WhatsApp, a platform for instant messaging and calling, is about to introduce a new feature that will let users share a direct link to call.
This week, WhatsApp will launch the feature. To access it, click the banner at the top of the Calls tab.
The Call Link feature will be available to users of the most recent application version.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, shared the information on Facebook. Users would only need to “single tap” their device to share a link to a call, according to him.
In April, there was news of a feature called WhatsApp Communities that would allow users to call up to 32 people at once.
Both audio and video calls will be able to use the most recent feature.
In the post, Zuckerberg acknowledged that group calls using encrypted video calling were currently being tested. Currently, WhatsApp only permits eight users on one call.
With the addition of the most recent feature, WhatsApp may now face competition from Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. At least 100 users can be active at once on each of these platforms.
